Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about QClaw.

Overview

What is QClaw?

QClaw is an AI agent that runs on your Mac or Windows computer. It turns your messaging apps (like WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.) into a remote control for your computer. QClaw doesn't just assist you โ€” it actually performs tasks for you: sending emails, organizing files, analyzing data, and even working in the background while you sleep.

Getting Started

How do I set up QClaw?

Just three steps:

  1. Download and install โ€” Click download. QClaw configures everything automatically in the background. No terminal, no Python, no Homebrew.
  2. Connect your messaging app โ€” Link WhatsApp, Telegram, or any supported platform (more platforms coming in future updates).
  3. Send your Lobster a message โ€” Send a task from your phone. It works on your computer and replies when it's done.

Do I need technical skills?

No. Zero configuration required. QClaw handles all dependencies, runtimes, and updates automatically. If you can send a text message, you can use QClaw.

Compatibility & Requirements

What platforms does QClaw support?

Which messaging apps can I connect?

Features

What types of tasks can QClaw handle?

QClaw can help with a wide range of tasks, including:

What is the Playground?

The Playground is a library of pre-trained AI agents built by real experts (fitness coaches, language teachers, etc.). Browse the store, click "I want it", and the agent is ready to go. No setup, no prompt engineering.

What are QClaw It, QClaw Daily, and QClaw Up?

These are three interaction modes:

Does QClaw learn about me over time?

If you choose to enable the memory feature, QClaw can remember your preferences, habits, and important details over time. The more you use it, the smarter and more personalized it becomes. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, and you can delete stored memory at any point.

Can QClaw message me first?

Yes. Unlike traditional AI tools that wait for your input, QClaw can proactively reach out to you โ€” alerting you to things, flagging issues, or sharing updates before you even ask.

Safety & Privacy

Is QClaw safe to use?

Yes. QClaw includes a built-in AI Safety Gateway that monitors and logs every action the AI takes. A safety layer is designed to flag potentially risky operations, such as exploitation of vulnerabilities, malicious prompts or instructions, and poisoning attempts, though it may not catch every scenario. We recommend reviewing QClaw's actions regularly. You can disable specific permissions or turn off QClaw entirely at any time through Settings.

Does QClaw send my data to the cloud?

QClaw processes tasks locally on your computer. To ensure service quality, some input and output data may be temporarily stored on our servers for up to 24 hours, as described in our privacy policy. Your local files are never permanently uploaded or retained.

Can I review what QClaw has done?

Yes. Every action is logged and transparent. You can review the full history of actions QClaw has performed at any time.

Pricing & Access

How much does QClaw cost?

Pricing details are coming soon. Currently, QClaw is available only through the invite-only "Founding Lobsters" program.

What are "Founding Lobsters"?

Founding Lobsters are QClaw's first 20,000 users, each assigned a unique number (#00001 โ€“ #20000). It's our way of recognizing early supporters. These numbers are limited and permanent โ€” once claimed, they're gone forever.

Will QClaw be open to the public later?

Yes. After the Founding Lobsters phase, QClaw will open to a wider audience. Join the waitlist now to get early access.

Troubleshooting

QClaw isn't responding to my messages. What should I do?

Please make sure:

  1. Your computer is powered on and connected to the internet.
  2. QClaw is running in the background (check the system tray or menu bar).
  3. Your messaging app is properly linked in QClaw's settings.

If the issue persists, try restarting QClaw or reconnecting your messaging app.

Permissions

What permissions does QClaw need and why?

QClaw is an AI agent that runs on your Mac or Windows computer. To perform tasks on your behalf โ€” such as clicking buttons, reading screen content, controlling other apps, or detecting keyboard shortcuts โ€” it requires certain system permissions. All permissions are off by default. You choose which ones to enable, and you can revoke them at any time through your system's privacy settings. QClaw only uses a permission while the relevant feature is active โ€” granting access does not mean it is constantly recording or monitoring.

How do I manage QClaw's local computer permissions?

Open QClaw, go to Settings, and find the Local Computer Permissions section. Each permission has a toggle. To enable one, click the toggle and follow the system dialog to grant it in your system settings manually. To disable, click the toggle again and turn it off in system settings. The app syncs automatically.

What are the available permissions on macOS?

Local Network โ€” Find and communicate with devices on your local network. Accessibility โ€” Interact with UI elements across apps (clicking, reading screen content). Bluetooth โ€” Connect to Bluetooth peripherals. Screen & System Audio Recording โ€” Capture screen content and system audio. Input Monitoring โ€” Detect keyboard input in the background. Can QClaw control my computer without my knowledge?
